On March 8th, the WV Legislature passed SB 537 and this bill now awaits Governor Justice’s signature. The Hospice Council thanks all legislators who worked hard to get the bill passed. There was bipartisan support for this bill and the final amended bill was passed unanimously. This is a very important health care bill as so many people need hospice care and so many families are supported by hospice when their loved ones are at end of life. The bill creates a workgroup to study and plan for future needs for services and will ensure that quality hospice care is available and accessible when needed.
We hope to have a bill signing ceremony with Governor Justice as we did last year when he signed the Palliative Care bill.
