The Hospice Council of West Virginia is a non-profit membership organization that incorporated in 1988. It was founded in the early 1980’s as hospice agencies were starting in some of West Virginia’s larger cities. For many years, the organization operated with volunteers from the state’s hospices coordinating all activities. There is now a part-time paid director, but the organization still depends on volunteers from the state’s hospices to fulfill its mission.
